Lazarevac lies about fifty kilometres south of central Belgrade, in the valley of the Kolubara river, and forms one of the capital's outer municipalities. The town is named after Prince Lazar, and its best-known building is the Church of St. Dimitrije, whose crypt holds the remains of soldiers from the Battle of Kolubara in the First World War.
