Medchal lies north of Hyderabad in Telangana and is the headquarters of Medchal–Malkajgiri district. On a map it is a junction town. The national highway toward Nagpur runs through it from south to north, and Hyderabad's Outer Ring Road passes close by, giving the area a strong framework of major roads.
Medchal was once a distinct small town beyond the city, and the metropolitan area is gradually reaching it. From above, the older, denser centre along the highway is clear. Around it, new layouts, industrial plots and open ground are laid out in straighter lines that point to more growth to come.
