Miyang is the urban centre of Mile, a county-level city in the Honghe Prefecture of southern Yunnan. It lies in a highland basin surrounded by low hills, a type of landscape common across the Yunnan plateau. The flat valley floor is densely farmed, and roads climb the slopes around it.
The town has expanded considerably in recent years. Its map shows a clear division between an older core of narrower streets and newer districts laid out with wide boulevards and large blocks. Within China, Mile is known for its mild climate and for the vineyards and hot springs in the surrounding area.
