Nal Khera, also written Nalkheda, sits on the Malwa plateau in northwestern Madhya Pradesh. It is a gently rolling landscape of black soil, seasonal streams and wide fields. From above, the town is a compact knot of lanes around an older centre. Main roads leave it in several directions toward district towns, and cultivated land spreads out on all sides.
A river runs along the town's edge, and that is what gives the Nal Khera map poster its shape. The built-up area gathers on one bank, while the water's meandering line and its wooded margins form a natural border.
