Şāmitah lies in the Jazan Region in the far southwest of Saudi Arabia, not far from the border with Yemen. It sits on the Tihamah, the flat coastal plain between the Red Sea and the mountains further inland. The land is dry, but seasonal watercourses bring enough water for farming.
