Shetan is a town in the Chongqing municipality, a region known for steep, ridged terrain. In this part of south-western China, flat land is scarce, and settlements tend to follow valleys, terraces and the lines of roads cut into hillsides. From above, the result is irregular. Streets curve and double back, and buildings gather wherever the ground allows.
