Shikohābād lies in Firozabad district in western Uttar Pradesh, on the flat Doab between the Ganges and the Yamuna. On the map, the town is a dense cluster of streets, with an older, irregular core and newer neighbourhoods spreading along the main roads. The railway runs through the town, and beyond the built-up area, farmland and villages stretch across the plain.
The town is traditionally said to take its name from the Mughal prince Dara Shikoh, the eldest son of Shah Jahan. Shikohābād Junction is a station on the busy Delhi–Kolkata rail route, and the town lies within easy reach of Firozabad, a city famous across India for its glass bangles and glassware industry.
