Studeničani is a municipality just south of Skopje, on the slopes that rise away from the Skopje valley. Unlike a single town, it is made up of several villages spread across hilly terrain, and the map reflects that: small clusters of houses linked by roads that curve to follow the ground.
The pattern changes from north to south. Closer to the capital, the land is lower and the settlements are more closely spaced, while further south the roads climb and wind, and the gaps between villages grow. The result is a map with an irregular, handmade quality rather than any overall grid.
