Taquarituba is a municipality in the southwestern interior of São Paulo state, in an agricultural region of rolling land. From above it reads as a compact town with a regular street grid, blocks laid out in even rows, and a green edge of fields and pasture pressing in on all sides.
The urban area has the clear structure of many towns in the interior of São Paulo. There is a central square and church, a commercial main street, and residential blocks that expand outward in the same orderly pattern. On the outskirts the grid breaks up into rural roads that follow ridgelines and field boundaries.
