Trstenik lies in central Serbia, on the West Morava, in a valley between wooded hills. From above, the town stretches along the river and the valley road, with the centre on the left bank and residential areas extending up the lower slopes. The river is the strongest element of the map, a wide curve with fields on both sides.
The valley floor around the town is agricultural, divided into long plots, and vineyards and orchards appear on the hillsides. A railway and main road follow the Morava through the valley, and industrial areas sit on the flatter land near them. The town has long been known for its machine industry.
