Weimiao lies in the north of Jiangsu province, on the broad, low plain that stretches across this part of eastern China. The landscape is almost entirely level, divided into fields and crossed by canals, drainage channels and rural roads, and the town appears on a map as a concentrated patch of streets set within that agricultural grid.
Without hills to follow, the street pattern is shaped by roads and waterways. A main road runs through the settlement, and a regular network of lanes and residential blocks spreads to either side.
