Yasuj is the capital of Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province in southwestern Iran, set at high altitude in the Zagros Mountains. The city lies in a valley near the Dena range, one of the highest parts of the Zagros. Rising ground frames its map on several sides.

The Beshar River flows nearby, and belts of greenery and orchards follow the water.
