Yaţţā lies in the southern Hebron Hills, a short distance south of Hebron. The ground here is uneven, with ridges, slopes and small valleys, and the town's streets follow that terrain. From above, the roads curve around hills rather than running straight, and the built area spreads across several high points instead of forming one compact block.
It is one of the larger towns in the Hebron area, and it has grown steadily outward from an older centre.
