Ruwa lies on the highveld just east of Harare, along the main road toward Mutare and the eastern border. From above, it reads as a young town. There are planned residential areas with regular streets, open plots still waiting for houses, and large stretches of grassland and farmland between the built-up areas. The road east is the clearest line on the map, and the town is arranged around it.
Ruwa has grown quickly in recent decades as people moved out of the capital to build homes in new suburbs. Much of that growth is recent and still visible on the map, where finished neighbourhoods sit beside areas where only the street layout is in place. The town has been shaped more by planning and new building than by history.
