Fort Patience
The Dutch-built fort stands on a small hill above the town. It is a fixed point in the landscape and a reminder of the long history of European trading posts on this coast.

Apam Map Poster & Print
Apam lies on the Atlantic coast of Ghana's Central Region, west of Accra, facing the Gulf of Guinea. From above, the town forms a dense cluster of narrow lanes and closely spaced buildings along the shore, where the beach and canoe landing areas meet the sea. Behind the town, the map opens into coastal scrub, farmland and roads leading inland and along the coast.
Apam is known for Fort Patience, a small fort built by the Dutch in the late seventeenth century on a hill overlooking the town and the sea. Fishing remains central to local life, with canoes launched from the beach. The town belongs to the Gomoa area of the Central Region, a stretch of coast dotted with fishing communities.
An Apam map poster shows a coastal town in its essential form: the curve of the shoreline, the dense weave of lanes and the high point of the fort above them. It is a meaningful print for families from the Central Region, for people in the diaspora and for anyone who has visited this part of the Ghanaian coast.

Shoreline and beach
The coast forms one clear edge of the poster, with the beach where fishing canoes land running along the front of the town.
Dense town lanes
Behind the beach, narrow lanes and closely built compounds form a tight, irregular pattern. This gives the centre of the map a rich, detailed texture.
