Bad Mergentheim Map Poster & Print
Bad Mergentheim sits in the valley of the Tauber in northeastern Baden-Württemberg. On a map the river curves along the edge of a tight medieval centre. A castle complex sits at one end of the old town, and a long spa park runs beside the water. Newer districts climb the gentle slopes on both sides of the valley.
For almost three centuries, from 1525 to 1809, the town was the seat of the Grand Masters of the Teutonic Order. Their castle still dominates the east side of the old town and now houses a museum. In the nineteenth century mineral springs were found by the river, and Mergentheim became a spa town, which later added 'Bad' to its name.
A Bad Mergentheim map poster brings together these two sides of the town. The dense, irregular lanes of the old town meet the open, softer shapes of the spa quarter, and the Tauber connects them. It is a small, balanced composition, detailed at its centre and quiet at the edges where fields and vineyards begin.

Kurpark by the Tauber
The spa park stretches along the river with curving paths and spa buildings. It is a large green area beside the dense grain of the historic centre.
Tauber valley
The Tauber winds through the valley past the town. Roads and the railway follow its course, and together they give the map its strong main axis.
