The upcountry line ends here, and on the map the track can be traced winding in through the hills before it stops at the edge of the town centre.

Badulla Map Poster & Print
Badulla lies in a basin in Sri Lanka's central highlands, with hills and ridges on every side. From above, the streets do not form a strict grid. They bend to follow the land and the course of the Badulu Oya, the river that runs through the town. Roads leave the centre and climb into the hills, where the slopes are planted with tea.
The town is the capital of Uva Province and one of the older settlements in the hill country. It is also the eastern terminus of the upcountry railway line from Colombo. The track winds for hours through tea estates to reach it, and many people count it among the most scenic train journeys in the world.
A Badulla map poster captures a town shaped by its terrain. The streets tighten in the valley floor and spread thinly up the slopes. The railway reaches the town through the hills, and the river threads between the neighbourhoods. The linework keeps the soft, organic outline that sets a highland town apart from lowland cities.

Badulu Oya valley
The river gives the town its low line. Streets gather near its banks, and the poster shows how the settlement follows the valley floor.
Hill roads
Winding roads leave the basin and climb toward the surrounding tea country. Their curves break the frame into irregular shapes, very different from a planned grid.
