Bergen Map Poster & Print
Bergen covers a peninsula and the valleys around it on Norway's west coast, hemmed in by steep hills often called the seven mountains. On the map the city is shaped by water. The narrow harbour of Vågen reaches into the centre, Puddefjorden lies to the south-west, and the inlet of Store Lungegårdsvann sits just behind the railway station.
Along the eastern side of Vågen stand the wooden merchant houses of Bryggen, the old Hanseatic wharf listed by UNESCO. From there, streets climb the slopes in tight steps, and the Fløibanen funicular runs up to the viewpoint on Mount Fløyen. Above a certain height the streets stop and the map opens into forest and mountain.
Bergen was once Norway's capital and one of the busiest ports of the Hanseatic trade network. Today it is known as a gateway to the fjords and for its frequent rain. A Bergen map poster shows how tightly the city fits into its terrain, with every neighbourhood bounded by a slope or a shoreline.

Steep hills rise directly behind the centre. On the map they appear as open areas where the street network ends abruptly and only a few paths continue upward.
Fjord arms
Puddefjorden, Store Lungegårdsvann and the wider fjords around the peninsula split the city into separate districts linked by bridges. This gives the map a fragmented, coastal character.
