Southern shoreline
The town follows the south coast of the island, so the edge of the sea defines the map, with streets running roughly parallel to the water.

Biak Map Poster & Print
Biak is the main town of Biak island, which lies at the mouth of Cenderawasih Bay off the north coast of Papua. The island is formed largely of raised coral limestone, and the town spreads along its southern shore. From above, streets run parallel to the coastline, with the sea and fringing reef close by, and the land rising gradually inland.
One of the most striking elements on the map is the airport, whose long runway runs close to the coast east of the town centre. The island played a significant part in the Second World War, when Allied forces fought for control of its airfields in 1944. Today the town serves as a regional hub for the surrounding islands and for travel along the bay.
A Biak map poster captures a town shaped by water on one side and limestone on the other. In black and white, the shoreline becomes a clean, decisive line, the runway a bold stroke, and the street pattern a lighter web between them. It is a map for people with a connection to the island, whether through family, work or travel.

Coral island

De ce Biak
O hartă care înseamnă ceva
For people from Biak, or those who have spent time on the island, a map is a way of keeping its coastline close. It works as a reminder of a particular place at the edge of the Pacific, clear enough to read, simple enough to live with.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line can all be personalised, so you might add a family name or the year you arrived. Five styles are available: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Blueprint suits the strong line of the coast.
