Dūrā lies in the hills southwest of Hebron in the southern West Bank. From above, the town spreads across a series of ridges and slopes, with roads following the contours and branching into smaller lanes. The built area is continuous in some places and scattered in others, with houses reaching outward along the hilltops.
The surrounding landscape is one of terraced hillsides, olive groves and small valleys, and on a map these appear as fine, curving lines around the town. The main roads link Dūrā to Hebron and to neighbouring villages, and they bend around the hills rather than cutting across them.
