Lake Hickory shoreline
The reservoir on the Catawba River forms a long, crooked band of water full of coves and inlets, giving the top of the map an intricate, almost hand-drawn edge.

Hickory Map Poster & Print
Hickory lies in the western Piedmont of North Carolina, in the foothills below the Blue Ridge. Its map is defined by two strong features: the Catawba River, dammed into the long, branching Lake Hickory along the northern edge, and Interstate 40, which cuts east to west across the southern part of town.
The city grew as a rail and manufacturing centre and became widely known for furniture making, an industry that still gives the area its reputation. Its older core sits around the rail corridor, with a modest grid of downtown blocks, while later development spreads outward along wide commercial roads and into looping residential subdivisions.
Lenoir-Rhyne University adds a campus of curving paths and green space near the centre. On a Hickory map poster, the contrast between the jagged lake shoreline, the straight rail line and the winding suburban streets makes for a surprisingly layered composition, especially at the larger sizes.

Downtown rail corridor
The railway runs straight through the older part of the city, with the compact downtown grid arranged along it, a reminder of how the town first grew around the tracks.
Interstate 40
The interstate crosses the city as a bold line with broad interchange loops, separating the older centre from newer commercial and residential areas to the south.

De ce Hickory
O hartă care înseamnă ceva
Hickory suits anyone with roots in the Catawba Valley, from people who worked in the furniture trade to Lenoir-Rhyne graduates and weekend boaters on the lake. The layered map of water, rail and road says a lot about the place without a single label.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates, perhaps with a graduation year or the date you moved in, and pick from five styles: Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Download 300 DPI files for $9, or order a matte print with an optional wooden frame.
