Plateau setting
The town sits on higher, open ground above the surrounding valleys. Its streets can spread outward freely, without being bent by water or steep slopes.

Idiofa Map Poster & Print
Idiofa is a town in Kwilu Province in the south-west of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It is also the administrative centre of the surrounding territory of the same name. The region is made up of plateaus and valleys, with open savanna on the higher ground and forest along the watercourses. The town lies on that higher, drier land.
From above, Idiofa is a spread-out settlement rather than a dense one. Unpaved roads divide it into loose blocks, houses are set on generous plots, and the edges fade gradually into the landscape. An Idiofa map poster shows that open texture: a modest network of streets, a few main routes leading out, and plenty of space between them.
The roads leaving town connect Idiofa with other settlements in Kwilu and towards the region's rivers, and they are the town's main links to the rest of the country. With no coastline or large river running through the centre, the shape of the town comes directly from its roads, which gives the map a simple, honest structure.

Loose street network
Wide spacing between streets and large plots give Idiofa a light, airy pattern. It reads very clearly as linework on a minimalist poster.
Roads out of town
A small number of main routes lead away from Idiofa across the countryside. They give the composition strong directional lines toward the map's edges.
