The isthmus
Okinawa Island narrows to its slimmest point here, so two coastlines appear on the map close together, framing the town in an unusual way.

Ishikawa Map Poster & Print
Ishikawa lies in central Okinawa, now part of the city of Uruma, at the point where the main island narrows most. On the map this is immediately visible: the land tapers to a slender isthmus, with the East China Sea on one side and the Pacific-facing bay on the other, only a few kilometres apart.
The town grew along the eastern shore, with its streets fitting into the gentle slopes that rise from the coast toward the wooded hills of the interior. Roads crossing the isthmus link the island's more developed south with the quieter, greener north.
An Ishikawa map poster captures a real geographic hinge. The coastlines pull close together, the street network fills the strip of low ground by the water, and the hills rise inland. It is a map where the outline of the island matters as much as the streets themselves.

Eastern shoreline
The town faces a sheltered bay to the east, and its coastline curves smoothly along the edge of the densest streets.
Inland hills
Green, wooded slopes rise behind the town, leaving the centre of the isthmus largely open and giving the map a quiet middle section.
