Central market streets
The busiest part of the city forms a denser core of short streets and bazaar lanes, standing out clearly against the looser pattern of residential compounds around it.

Khōst Map Poster & Print
Khōst lies in the southeast of Afghanistan, in a wide, relatively low basin close to the border with Pakistan. From above, the city appears as a cluster of streets and walled compounds spread over flat ground, with farmland and irrigation channels reaching outward until the land rises into the ranges that surround the basin on most sides.
The city is the capital of Khost Province and a long-standing market centre for the surrounding districts. Its lower elevation gives it a milder climate than much of the country, and the plain around it has been farmed for generations. Main roads leave the centre toward Gardez in the northwest and toward the border to the east and southeast.
A Khōst map poster reduces this setting to its essentials: the thicker weave of the centre, the lighter pattern of compounds and fields, and the roads that tie them together. It is a quiet, graphic image of a city more often mentioned in news reports than seen in its own shape.

Farmed basin
Beyond the built-up area, fields and irrigation channels fill the plain, creating a fine, textured pattern that fades gradually into open ground at the foot of the hills.
Khost–Gardez road
The highway toward Gardez winds out of the basin through mountain passes, one of the few long lines on the map that clearly leads somewhere far beyond the frame.
