Lake Hallstatt Map Poster & Print
Lake Hallstatt, the Hallstätter See, lies in the Salzkammergut of Upper Austria, deep in a valley below the Dachstein massif. It is long and narrow and runs roughly north to south. Its shores rise so steeply that there is room to build in only a few places, so on a map the lake is a clean shape almost completely enclosed by slopes.
The village of Hallstatt clings to a narrow ledge on the western shore, its houses stacked between the water and the mountain, with the salt mine high above. Salt has been mined here for around 7,000 years, and the Iron Age Hallstatt culture of prehistoric Europe is named after finds made at the site. The area is part of a UNESCO World Heritage landscape.
Obertraun lies on flatter ground at the southern end. The Traun River flows in from the south and leaves at the northern tip toward Bad Goisern. A Lake Hallstatt map poster shows the full length of the water and its few settlements, a minimal composition in which the steepness of the mountains shows in how few roads there are.

De ce Lake Hallstatt
O hartă care înseamnă ceva
Many visitors spend only a few hours in Hallstatt, yet the image stays with them. A map of the whole lake gives a fuller picture than the classic viewpoint photograph, because it shows the village in its setting of water and mountains.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line with a date or a short dedication, and pick from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The $9 files come as 300 DPI PNG and print-ready PDF in six sizes, with no watermark.
