San Jorge River
The river runs along the town in a wide curve. It is the largest single shape on the poster and gives the street grid a natural edge.

Montelíbano Map Poster & Print
Montelíbano lies in southern Córdoba, Colombia, on the banks of the San Jorge River. From above, the town's shape follows the river: a compact grid of streets on one side, with the San Jorge sweeping past in a wide, brown line on the map. Beyond the town edge the landscape opens into cattle pasture, wetlands and the first low hills toward the Andes.
The streets are laid out in the regular blocks common to Colombian towns, with a central plaza near the older part of town close to the water. Newer neighbourhoods extend inland in looser patterns. The river is the town's oldest route, and the way the grid lines up along the bank shows how settlement here grew from the water outward.
The area is known for Cerro Matoso, one of the world's major ferronickel mines, which sits a short distance from town. A Montelíbano map poster leaves industry aside and shows the essentials: the river, the grid and the green country around it. The drawing is simple, with the water giving it movement.

Riverside grid
Regular blocks line up close to the water around the older centre. On paper they form a dense, even pattern that contrasts with the open river.
Lowland surroundings
Past the edge of town, the map opens into pasture and wetland with only scattered roads. The surroundings frame the town and give it room to breathe.
