The railway
The Moscow–Arkhangelsk line runs through the middle of town, with a wide band of tracks and yards. It is the strongest, straightest element on the map.

Nyandoma Map Poster & Print
Nyandoma is a town in Arkhangelsk Oblast, in the Russian north, on the railway line that connects Moscow with Arkhangelsk. The town grew around its station after the line was built at the end of the nineteenth century, and the railway remains its central feature. Tracks, yards and sidings run through the town and shape everything around them.
The street plan is largely regular, with rectangular blocks set out on both sides of the line. Beyond the last streets, the map opens into forest, bog and lakes, the typical landscape of the northern taiga. The town reads as a clear, bounded pattern of lines surrounded by unbroken wilderness.
A Nyandoma map poster suits the minimal black-and-white style well. It shows the essentials: a railway, a grid and the forest. It is a portrait of a working northern town whose existence has always been tied to the trains passing through it on the long journey to the White Sea.

Town grid
Nyandoma's residential streets form a tidy grid on either side of the railway. The regular blocks contrast sharply with the irregular forest and water around them.
Taiga and lakes
Around the town, dense forest and scattered lakes cover the land. On a wider map, they leave large open areas that make the town's outline stand out.
