Tidal creeks
Creeks and mangroves wrap around the old town, dividing the land into irregular fingers and making the coastline one of the most intricate shapes in the region.

Port Hedland Map Poster & Print
Port Hedland lies on the Pilbara coast of Western Australia, and on a map it is one of the most unusual towns in the country. The old town sits on a narrow strip of land between the Indian Ocean and a maze of tidal creeks and mangroves, connected to the mainland by a causeway. South Hedland lies inland.
It is one of the largest bulk export ports in the world by tonnage, handling iron ore that arrives from inland mines on very long trains. Salt is produced here too, in evaporation ponds that appear as flat geometric shapes near the coast. The harbour channel and wharves form a large part of the town's outline.
A Port Hedland map poster captures a landscape shaped by tides and industry. Creeks branch through the mangroves, rail lines curve toward the port, and the salt ponds add straight edges to a coast that is otherwise organic. The contrast is striking in black and white, part working harbour and part estuary.

Iron ore port
Wharves, stockyards and a dredged shipping channel occupy a large part of the harbour, showing the scale of the bulk export trade that defines the town.
Salt ponds
Large rectangular evaporation ponds near the coast create sharp geometric blocks on the map, a clear contrast to the winding creeks around them.

De ce Port Hedland
O hartă care înseamnă ceva
Many people have lived and worked in Port Hedland for a few years, on a mine roster or at the port, and remember it vividly. A map of its creeks, causeway and harbour marks that chapter in a quiet way.
Add a title, a subtitle with the years you were there, and a coordinates line. Choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Sand works well with the Pilbara palette, and Blueprint with the port.
