Qionghai Map Poster & Print
Qionghai lies on the eastern coast of Hainan Island, facing the South China Sea. Its urban centre, Jiaji, sits inland on the Wanquan River, while the coast to the east is lined with beaches, lagoons and fishing harbours. On a map the city is less one compact form than a scattering of towns linked by roads through farmland and tropical plantations.
The Wanquan River is the key line on the sheet. It winds eastward from Jiaji through a green, low-lying landscape before reaching the sea at Bo'ao, where it is joined by two smaller rivers. At the mouth, a long, narrow sandbar called Yudai Beach separates the river from the open sea, a thin strip that shows up clearly from above.
Bo'ao is best known as the permanent home of the Boao Forum for Asia, an annual gathering of political and business leaders. Qionghai is also the ancestral home of many overseas Chinese families. A Qionghai map poster shows a gentler kind of city, shaped by a river, a lagoon coast and the open water beyond.

Yudai Beach sandbar
At the river mouth near Bo'ao, a long, slender strip of sand divides river from sea, one of the most distinctive coastal shapes on Hainan.
Lagoon coastline
The eastern shore alternates between beaches, lagoons and small harbours, forming an irregular edge that frames the map on its seaward side.

De ce Qionghai
O hartă care înseamnă ceva
Qionghai speaks to people with family roots on Hainan, including many in South-East Asia, and to anyone who has visited Bo'ao. Its soft lines of river and coast make a calm, airy composition for a bedroom or study.
Change the title and subtitle to reflect your own story, perhaps a family village or a year, and keep the coordinates. Blueprint and Classic black & white show the waterways sharply, while Noir, Paper and Sand each give a different mood.
