Sandvik works
The steel and tools works cover a broad area next to the town centre. Long halls and railway lines give it a distinctly industrial pattern.

Sandviken Map Poster & Print
Sandviken, in Gävleborg County, grew up around a single enterprise. In the 1860s Göran Fredrik Göransson established the ironworks that became Sandvik, and the company's early success with the Bessemer process made the town's name in steelmaking. Sandvik is still one of Sweden's best-known industrial companies, and its works still take up a large part of the town map.
The town lies near the eastern end of Storsjön, and water helps define its outline. Residential streets spread out from the centre in neat, fairly regular patterns, with areas of forest and open ground between the neighbourhoods. The industrial area, with its long halls and rail sidings, has a very different texture from the housing around it.
A Sandviken map poster shows a company town with the balance clearly visible: the lake on one side, the works at the centre of gravity, homes laid out around both. It is a quiet, orderly map, fitting for a place built around precision engineering. Printed in monochrome, the large industrial shapes read almost like architectural drawings.

Storsjön shoreline
The lake west of the town adds a large expanse of water to the map. Its shoreline gives Sandviken a natural edge on that side.
Planned neighbourhoods
Residential areas were laid out in fairly regular patterns with green spaces between them. They print as calm blocks around the industrial core.

De ce Sandviken
O hartă care înseamnă ceva
Many families in Sandviken have a connection to the works, whether through a parent, a grandparent or their own career. A map of the town is a way to honour that history without making it sentimental.
You can set the title, subtitle and coordinates yourself, perhaps with a starting year or family name, and choose from five styles. Blueprint suits the engineering heritage, and Classic black and white keeps it simple.
