São Benedito Map Poster & Print
São Benedito lies on the Serra da Ibiapaba, the long plateau along the western border of Ceará with Piauí. Its height gives it a milder, greener climate than the sertão below. From above, the town is a compact grid on fairly level upland, with farm roads running out across the plateau in straight lines.
The area is known for horticulture, and São Benedito in particular is associated with flower growing, which suits the cooler temperatures of the serra. To the east the Ibiapaba ends in a steep escarpment that drops sharply toward the lowlands, one of the most distinctive landforms in the Brazilian north-east.
A São Benedito map poster shows a place defined by elevation even though the poster itself is flat. It has orderly streets on the plateau and sparser, winding roads where the land starts to fall away. It makes a considered gift for people from the Ibiapaba and a good souvenir for travellers who have followed the highland towns along the serra.

The escarpment
East of the plateau the land drops steeply, and roads that descend it twist and switch back, adding contrast at the map's edge.
Farm roads
Straight rural roads lead from the town to the growing areas of the serra, extending the street pattern outward in long lines.
