Lake Shchuchye
The lake's wide, rounded outline sits directly beside the town. It is the strongest shape on the poster and looks especially calm in the Blueprint or Sand style.

Shchuchinsk Map Poster & Print
Shchuchinsk lies in the Burabay district of Aqmola region in northern Kazakhstan, on the shore of Lake Shchuchye. The lake gives the town its name, from the Russian word for pike, and on the map its broad, rounded outline sits right against the streets. The town stretches back from the water in a regular grid of blocks, typical of the region's twentieth-century towns.
Around Shchuchinsk stretch the forests and granite hills of the Kokshetau upland, a rare wooded landscape in the middle of the Kazakh steppe. The area, known as Burabay or Borovoe, is one of the country's most popular holiday regions. Resorts, sanatoriums and summer houses are scattered among the pines along several lakes.
Roads and a railway line connect the town with Kokshetau and with the capital, Astana, a few hours' drive to the southeast. A Shchuchinsk map poster captures the meeting of a planned grid, a large lake and dense forest, a combination that looks distinctive in any of the five styles.

Grid of blocks
The streets are laid out in straight rows and long blocks, typical of towns in the region. They form a steady, orderly pattern next to the irregular shore.
Burabay forests
Pine woods and granite hills surround the town and the nearby lakes. On the map they appear as open ground crossed by scattered roads and resort tracks.

De ce Shchuchinsk
O hartă care înseamnă ceva
For people who spent childhood summers at Borovoe or grew up in Shchuchinsk itself, the lake and the pines are central memories. A map of the town brings that northern landscape into an apartment in Astana, Almaty or somewhere much further away.
Add your own title, perhaps a family name or the name of a summer cottage, together with a date. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Download six HD sizes for $9, or order a matte print with an optional wooden frame.
