Valley layout
The town stretches along a valley floor between wooded ridges, with hills pressing in on both sides. As a result, the built-up area appears as a long band rather than a compact circle.

Tŏkch’ŏn Map Poster & Print
Tŏkch’ŏn lies in the mountainous interior of South Pyongan province, and its map is shaped more by terrain than by any grand plan. Streets and rail lines run along the valley floor, following the course of the river. The surrounding slopes keep the built-up area long and narrow rather than letting it spread in every direction.
The city is known above all as an industrial centre. It is home to the Sungri Motor Plant, one of North Korea's main vehicle factories, and the wider area has long been associated with mining. On a map, large factory sites and rail sidings sit alongside housing blocks, which gives the town a working, functional character.
Detailed information about Tŏkch’ŏn is limited, so a Tŏkch’ŏn map poster is best appreciated for what the cartography shows: a settlement pressed into a valley, with roads threading between hills and the river as its organising line. It appeals to collectors of rarely mapped places and to anyone curious about the geography of the Korean peninsula.

River as spine
A river runs through the valley, and the main roads and the rail line follow it closely. This gives the map a clear central axis that ties the districts together.
Industrial footprint
Large rectangular factory compounds, including the motor plant, stand out from the finer grain of the residential blocks and give the map a distinctly industrial texture.

De ce Tŏkch’ŏn
O hartă care înseamnă ceva
Few people have a map of Tŏkch’ŏn on their wall, which is part of its appeal. It suits collectors of unusual places, students of the region and anyone who values the plain geometry of a valley town seen from above.
Add your own title, a subtitle or a date, and edit the coordinates line if you wish. Choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, then download the HD files for $9 or order a printed poster with an optional wooden frame.
