Li River bends
The Li River curves past the edge of town, with the old waterfront following its line, giving the map a flowing, natural boundary against the tight street pattern.

Yangshuo Map Poster & Print
Yangshuo, in Guangxi, is known for its karst landscape: hundreds of steep limestone peaks rising abruptly from flat fields. On a map of streets and water, the peaks appear as gaps, places where roads cannot go, so the town's layout is squeezed into the flat ground between them. The Li River runs along the edge of town, and its bends shape the waterfront and the direction of the older streets.
The town is compact, centred on West Street, a pedestrian lane that has welcomed travellers for decades. Beyond the centre, roads fan out into the countryside, following the Yulong River and the valley floors past villages and rice paddies. The Li River scenery between Guilin and Yangshuo is so well known that it appears on the back of the twenty-yuan banknote.
A Yangshuo map poster is less about a dense urban grid than about the dialogue between a winding river and a landscape of isolated hills. In black and white, the roads trace the valleys, the river forms a soft pale ribbon, and the empty spaces between them hint at the peaks. The result is a quiet, graphic portrait of one of China's most distinctive landscapes.

West Street
The town's best-known pedestrian street runs from the centre toward the river, a short, dense lane surrounded by small blocks that forms the heart of the town map.
Karst valleys
Around the town, roads and paths wind through the flat valley floors between limestone peaks, so the street network looks scattered and organic rather than planned.
