Águilas Map Poster & Print
Águilas lies on the Mediterranean coast of Murcia, where a rocky headland crowned by the castle of San Juan divides two bays. The modern town was laid out in the eighteenth century under Charles III, and its regular streets are still clear on the map, filling the flat land at the foot of the castle hill.
To either side the coastline breaks into coves, beaches and small promontories, while dry hills rise inland. The contrast between the orderly town grid and the rugged coastal outline gives the map a strong character.
An Águilas map poster places the castle, the harbour and the twin bays in a single balanced frame. The town is widely known in Spain for its carnival, one of the most celebrated in the country, but from above it is the meeting of grid and coast that stands out.

Eighteenth-century grid
The town's regular streets reflect its planned founding under Charles III, a tidy pattern set against the irregular coastline.
Two bays
Bays open on either side of the headland, their curving shorelines framing the town and giving the map a balanced, symmetrical feel.
