Chengzihe is a district of Jixi, a city in the far east of Heilongjiang province whose growth was closely tied to coal mining. On a map the district is shaped by that history: residential blocks sit near large industrial plots, and railway lines weave between them, carrying coal and connecting the district to the rest of the city.
