Leek Map Poster & Print
Leek lies in the west of Groningen province, close to the Drenthe border. From above it follows the typical pattern of the northern Netherlands: long roads with houses along them, straight drainage ditches, and farmland divided into narrow strips. The village grew along these routes rather than around a single square, so its outline stretches out instead of forming a ring.
On the edge of the village is the Nienoord estate, a wooded park around a historic borg, the fortified manor house found across Groningen. On a map it reads as a dense patch of paths and ponds that stands out against the open fields around it. The estate houses the national carriage museum, a well-known destination in this part of the north.
A Leek map poster shows how carefully this landscape has been drawn. Canals and ditches cut clean lines through the countryside, the residential streets bend into the curved closes typical of Dutch suburbs, and the Nienoord woods add a darker, more detailed area at the edge. It is a quiet design, suited to people who like order and small detail.

Drainage canals
Straight waterways and field ditches run through the surrounding land, drawing the parallel lines typical of the Groningen countryside.
Long village roads
Houses line the old roads leading out of the centre, stretching the village along its routes instead of clustering in one compact core.
