Long Thành is a district town in Đồng Nai province, roughly forty kilometres east of central Ho Chi Minh City. It grew along the main road toward Vũng Tàu, and on the map it still reads as a settlement organised around highways. A central strip of dense streets sits at its heart, with lanes branching into farmland, orchards and plantations on the gently rolling land around it.
Today the area is best known as the site of Long Thành International Airport, a major new gateway for southern Vietnam built on a large tract of land within the district. The Ho Chi Minh City–Long Thành–Dầu Giây Expressway passes nearby, adding broad, sweeping interchanges to a landscape once defined by rubber estates.
