Rypin is a town in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian region of northern Poland, in the historic area known as Dobrzyń Land. Its centre follows the pattern of many old Polish towns: a market square with streets leading out from its corners and sides. Beyond the centre, residential districts and roads spread into the surrounding countryside of fields, lakes and woods.
The small Rypienica river passes through the area, and its valley shapes part of the town's outline. Roads toward neighbouring towns leave Rypin in several directions, giving the map a roughly radial structure. Around the edges, the grid of newer housing estates contrasts with the older, more irregular streets near the square.
