Troyan Map Poster & Print
Troyan lies in north-central Bulgaria, at the foot of the Balkan Mountains, along the valley of the Osam river. From above, the town is long and narrow. The river runs through the middle, main streets follow the valley floor, and smaller roads climb the hillsides on both sides, giving the plan a stretched, organic shape.
The town is known for its traditional pottery, with a distinctive glazed style, and for plum brandy made in the region. Troyan Monastery, one of the largest in Bulgaria, stands in the valley a short distance upstream. Beyond the town, forested slopes and mountain roads lead toward the higher ridges of the range.
