Jinhu lake
The lake at the centre of the city is its defining feature. Its smooth outline sits among dense streets and forms a calm focal point on the map.

Gejiu Map Poster & Print
Gejiu lies in the mountains of southern Yunnan, in the Honghe Hani and Yi Autonomous Prefecture. From above, the city is squeezed into a long, narrow valley. Its streets run lengthwise along the valley floor and climb in tight curves up the steep slopes on either side. At the centre sits Jinhu, a lake around which much of the city is arranged.
Gejiu is known as China's tin capital. Tin has been mined in the surrounding mountains for centuries, and the industry shaped the city's growth, economy and identity. The lake and the parks along its shore give the dense, working city a calm centre, and from the surrounding heights the town appears as a compact band of buildings enclosed by green ridges.
A Gejiu map poster captures a city defined by terrain. The elongated street pattern follows the valley, winding roads climb the hillsides, and the smooth form of the lake sits at the heart of the composition. In black and white, the contrast between the pale water and the dense, tightly packed streets makes a striking and unusual design.

Valley-floor streets
Main streets run the length of the narrow valley in long parallel lines. They give the city a stretched, linear shape that is unmistakable from above.
Switchback slopes
Roads climb the surrounding mountainsides in tight curves and switchbacks. The winding lines at the edges contrast with the orderly streets below.
