Le faʻafanua
Lolland is one of Denmark's largest islands and one of its flattest. Much of the land lies barely above sea level, and some reclaimed ground sits below it, protected by a dike running along the southern coast. On a map the island reads as a wide, compact shape with a deeply cut western end, where a fjord and small islands break up the coastline around Nakskov.
Inland, the pattern is agricultural: a fine mesh of small roads between fields, farms and villages, with patches of woodland and the lakes around Maribo near the centre, where the town's cathedral stands beside the water. To the east, the island is linked across the narrow Guldborgsund strait to Falster, and beyond it the motorway heads north toward Zealand and Copenhagen.
The harbour at Rødbyhavn on the south coast is where the ferry to Germany departs, and it is also the Danish end of the Fehmarn Belt tunnel now under construction. A Lolland map poster shows a landscape that rarely makes it onto walls: level, patient country, drawn with the fine detail of lanes, lakes and a many-fingered western shore.
A long embankment follows the southern coastline, a straight, engineered edge that protects the low farmland behind it from the Baltic Sea.
Near the centre of the island a group of lakes surrounds the small cathedral town of Maribo, the largest open water on Lolland's otherwise level interior.
At the western end the coast breaks into a shallow fjord dotted with islets, a far more intricate edge than the rest of the island's smooth outline.

Aisea Lolland
Lolland suits people who know it from childhood summers, family farms or the drive south to the German ferry. Its quiet, level pattern of lanes and fields works well as a large print, where the fine lines have room to breathe.
Give it your own title and subtitle, perhaps a village name or a year, and adjust the coordinates line. Five styles are available: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. A free 900 px preview lets you check the layout before buying.
