Le faʻafanua
Mahé is the largest island of the Seychelles, a long granite ridge running from north to south with steep, forested mountains down the middle. The coast road follows the shoreline around most of the island, and a few mountain roads cut across the ridge, climbing in sharp bends between the east and west coasts.
Victoria, the capital, sits on the north-east coast and is one of the smallest capital cities in the world, with a compact centre around its harbour. Above the town rises Morne Seychellois, the highest point in the country. South of Victoria the international airport runs along reclaimed land beside the sea, while just offshore lie the small islands of Sainte Anne Marine National Park.
On the north-west coast, Beau Vallon curves around a wide sandy bay, while the southern half of the island is quieter, with smaller beaches between granite headlands. A Mahé map poster shows how much of life here is pressed against the sea: a ring of coastal streets and villages around a green, largely roadless mountain core.
The national park around the highest peak covers much of the island's northern interior, leaving a broad gap in the road network between the two coasts.
South of Victoria, land reclaimed from the sea carries the airport runway and newer districts, a straight, geometric edge along an otherwise curving shoreline.
On the north-west coast a long, smooth bay faces the open ocean, the island's best-known beach and a clean curve against the granite hills behind it.

Aisea Mahé
Mahé is where most visits to the Seychelles begin, and often where honeymoons and long-awaited trips are spent. A map of the island keeps that memory in a quieter register than a photograph, with the mountains and bays drawn as simple lines.
Add names, a wedding date or the coordinates of a particular beach to the title and subtitle, and choose from five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Printed versions come on matte paper, framed in wood if you wish.
