Lambersart lies on the north-western edge of Lille, along the Deûle canal. On a map, the canal and its branches form a clear eastern boundary, and just across the water sits the large, star-shaped outline of the Citadel of Lille, built by Vauban in the seventeenth century, with the green expanse of the Bois de Boulogne park around it.
