Bisceglie lies on the Adriatic coast of Apulia, between Molfetta and Trani. From above, the town is split into two clear parts. Along the sea is the old town, a dense cluster of narrow, winding streets around a small curved harbour. Inland, the newer areas spread out in a more regular grid, crossed by roads and a railway running parallel to the coast.
The old town grew up around its Romanesque cathedral and its port, where fishing boats still dock. Just outside town is the Dolmen of Bisceglie, a prehistoric stone tomb that is among the best known in southern Italy. The surrounding countryside is covered in olive groves and orchards, and the area is particularly known for its cherries.
