Chiúre is the seat of Chiúre District in the south of Cabo Delgado Province, northern Mozambique. It lies inland from the Indian Ocean coast, on the road network that links the provincial capital, Pemba, with Nampula Province to the south. From above, the town is a loose arrangement of streets and plots that quickly thins into cultivated land and woodland.
Most of the surrounding district is rural, and farming is the main livelihood. On a map this shows as a sparse web of tracks connecting scattered villages, with the town as the one clear concentration of streets.
