Eséka lies in the hilly, heavily forested country between Yaoundé and the coast. From above, the town follows the landscape rather than a plan. Streets bend around slopes, neighbourhoods sit on ridges, and the edges fade into a dense canopy. On the map the forest shows as open space, broken only by tracks and small clearings.
The most clearly drawn line in the frame is the railway that connects Yaoundé with Douala. It passes through the town and shapes its layout: there is a station area, and roads run parallel to the tracks before climbing away. The town is the administrative centre of the Nyong-et-Kéllé department and a meeting point for the surrounding rural communities. Its identity is closely tied to the railway, which has made it a stop on journeys between Cameroon's two largest cities for generations. It is also remembered for the 2016 train derailment nearby, one of the country's worst rail accidents.

Instead of following a grid, roads trace the contours of the land, looping around slopes and running along ridges. This gives the street network a soft, branching look.
