Limhamn is on the southwestern edge of Malmö, facing the Øresund. Its name comes from lime, and the connection is still visible from above. The former limestone quarry here is one of the largest pits in Northern Europe, a huge, sharply edged cavity that has become a nature reserve and dominates the southern part of the map. No other Swedish neighbourhood has a feature quite like it.
North of the quarry, Limhamn is a former fishing and harbour community with a small old centre, a marina and streets of low houses close to the water. The shoreline has piers, harbour basins and bathing places, and the Øresund Bridge reaches land at Lernacken a short distance to the south. Villas and newer housing fill the space between the coast and central Malmö.

Harbour and marina
Small basins and piers line the shore where the fishing and lime-shipping harbour once operated. Today they give the coastline a finely detailed edge.

The strait forms the western boundary of the map. Across it lies Denmark, and the bridge connecting the two countries comes ashore nearby.
