Ribera lies in the province of Agrigento, in south-western Sicily, a few kilometres inland from the Mediterranean. The town sits on gently rising ground between the Verdura and Magazzolo rivers, and from above it forms a compact grid of streets that stops where the orchards begin.
The land around Ribera is largely devoted to citrus, and the town is known for its oranges, sold under the Arancia di Ribera name. On the map, the surrounding countryside is divided by country roads, irrigation lines and the two river valleys running towards the sea.
