Thívai Map Poster & Print
Thívai, the modern town on the site of ancient Thebes, lies in Boeotia in Central Greece, northwest of Athens. The town centre stands on the Cadmea, the low plateau that served as the acropolis of the ancient city. From above, the built area is compact, surrounded by the flat, farmed plains of Boeotia.
Thebes is one of the most storied cities of the Greek world. It is the setting of the myths of Cadmus, Oedipus and the Seven against Thebes, and was a major power in the classical period. Remains of the ancient city appear within the modern town, and its archaeological museum holds finds from across the region.
A Thívai map poster shows a town layered on an ancient site. The modern streets follow the shape of the hill, and roads lead out toward the plain and neighbouring towns. In black and white, the compact centre and wide farmland around it give a clear sense of a place that has stood here for millennia.

Flat, cultivated land surrounds the town, with straight field lines and rural roads forming a calm, open frame on the poster.
Ancient traces
Archaeological sites are set among the modern blocks, small open spaces within the grid that mark the city’s long continuity.
